TCoA

"The Cask of Amontillado" , the title, is a irony. Cask which means, or shorten, a casket; referring to death, a elimination. As well as the characters in the story, Fortunato's name is a play of words, which means fortunate. And in the story he isn't fortunate at all, more like the exact opposite. Even Fortunato's attire was irony! He was dressed as a jester of sorts, a fool, and he ends up being a drunken fool as well! Using a mason pun, Montressor showed him a trowel to prove he was a mason. He ends up burying Fortunato alive with it. Montressor even toast to Fortunato's long life! This whole story uses IRONY! A lot of it as well! Verbal, dramatic and situational!

The point, or theme, to this story is that...well, revenge drives humans to great lengths. The desire , the burning passion of wanting your abuser( your could say) to suffer as much pain as you. To make the revenge right, you...are not  to be caught, and the abuser(again, you could say) must feel the pain you felt.
