“Where they have burned books, they will end
in burning human beings” is a renown quote said by Heinrich Heine (found in a
article that I will be referencing on throughout this paper), which relates to
the concept of book burning, seen in the novel Fahrenheit 451. In Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury presents a
dystopia in which people of the future are so wrapped up in the mind numbing
effects of technology that they refuse to think. Through this, censorship is created, and is
represented in a number of ways in this book, that the government holds against
the citizens, such as the following: technology is controlling our lives,
reading becomes a sort of taboo, intelligence becomes a swear word as it
‘deserves’ to be, and freedom of creativity of any kind, such as expressing
yourself through ideas, are annihilated or put down.
It is good! Your hook is not only engaging, but impressive because it contextualizes Bradbury's novel!
ReplyDeleteReading this, I would now expect your paper to have 4 body paragraphs, each one showing a different way that censorship is created, following the sequence of your third sentence. Good luck!
I love your hook. Your thesis and order of development are also strong (though look at the order to condense the language).
