Log Entry #11

Montag, not angry but exhausted, figured out that Mildred was slowly burning his books, his 'secret stash' in the vent; in case of her doing any more burning he hid them outside in the bushes. Montag began to compare him and Faber, fire plus water, and one day after everything had mixed; there will be no fire nor water, but wine. Something not in the equation, meaning, they would create something new, better. "Survival is our ticket. All isn't well with the world." Montag is afraid of making mistakes in which he actually does;Faber wanting him to act normal...well what they consider normal, he didn't, he read a poem to the ladies."If you hide your ignorance, no one will hit you and you'll never learn." The Medical Hound was gone by the time Montag arrived at the Firehouse. Had Beatty set the hound lose to search Montag's yard? "Well here comes a very strange beast which in all tongues is called a fool." Beatty is calling Montag a fool and asking him to play a hand of poker, in which is a symbol; Beatty holds all the cards. Beatty begins breaking down Montag mentally by quoting books, Montag becomes nervous and confused. "Swahili, Indian, English Lit., I speak them all. A kind of excellent dumb discourse." Proving Beatty is a very intelligent man. The fire bell rang and they all got their equipment, but something wasn't right, Beatty never drove but he was driving tonight, which is a foreshadow that this place their going is very special. It was Montag's house. Mildred is seen running out to the beetle and whispering: " Poor family, poor family, oh everything gone, everything, everything gone now..." Montag's house is next for burning. "What is there about fire that's so lovely? No matter what age we are, what draws us to it?" Montag begins to think Mildred watched him re-hide the books in the yard and betrayed him. But did she? Or was it the Mechanical Hound? It was the Hound...knew it! Montag burned his own house after Beatty told him he was under arrest. Montag began to ask if Mildred set the alarm on him; but it turns out, it was Mildred and her friends. Beatty hit Montag on the head and sent the Green Bullet to the ground and Montag to the ground as well. Beatty turned it off and stuffed it in his pocket saying he will track the person a pay them a visit. "We never burned right." After this, Montag begins to shoot the fire gun at Beatty, killing him, I believe. He does this to the other two firemen and the Mechanical Hound. The hound eventually stabs him with the needle, his leg turning numb..." A numbness in a numbness hollowed into a numbness."
