Fahrenheit 451
Log Entry #12
"You always said, don't face a problem, burn it. Well now I've done both. Goodbye, Captain."
Montag killed Beatty. The captained...killed. A fireman burned to death, ironic? After knocking out the other two firemen, Montag returned to his yard to check the bush...four books laid untouched. God bless Mildred, Montag says in his thoughts.Montag later comes to the conclusion that Beatty wanted to die, suicidal. This can be supported by a number of things; Beatty quoting Julius Caesar, spitting insults and quoting books childishly in front of Montag - knowing full well that Montag has the flamethrower in his grasp. Beatty did not move but kept babbling. "Oh god I'm sorry, so sorry...sorry." Montag whimpered. "You must remember, burn them or they'll burn you, as simple as that." Montag finds that he is a highly regarded criminal, beetles that turn into helicopters? Yep, a criminal on the run. But besides this Montag was running towards Faber house, the question is would Faber be there? Is Faber there to help him, take him in? Or leave Montag on his own? Montag was soon chased by a car full of teenagers, he only later realizes that they weren't the police; he comes to the conclusion that maybe, just maybe those kids killed Clarisse. But is Clarisse dead for sure? "Since your a fireman's wife, it's your house and your turn, for all the houses your husband burnt and the people he hurt without thinking." This is when Montag portrays a psychotic killer, Mrs. Black is hinted to be burn alive or thrown in jail.
